Lokhra Market

The Lokhra Market is our Saturday Haat/Market which is right at our doorstep. It is common to find weekly markets around the Northeast region of India. These are special markets, under the open skies with makeshift structures as shops; traders and patrons from various local communities residing in the rural areas flock to such busy local weekly markets. Bustling with life, full of colour, organized chaos! Everything under the sun is sold here, from a safety pin to finding a bleating goat or a grunting pig! Families come to shop for clothes, household wares, toys, furniture, groceries, spices, seasonal vegetables and fruits, all kinds of meats and sweets. The odd village medicine man selling herbal concoctions and talismans, astrologers and palmist too find their way to such markets, you name it and they will probably have it. It is also a form of entertainment for the local communities to rejoice their weekend, music being played on speakers, in the nooks and corners you can find gambling games dens, tiny huts severing local food and delicious snacks, even finding local alcoholic beverages for the local folks to enjoy as a mean to blow some steam, after their weekly payday – A one of kind sensory experience for our guests to cherish.
