MAINTENANCE OF BUSHES
In order to obtain optimum results, bush hygiene, application of correct and measured chemicals in weed control and pest control is explained. Maintenance of bushes is of utmost importance in order that maximum good crop is harvested.
TRANSPORTATION OF GREEN LEAF
Utmost care is taken in transportation of green leaf to the factory as any damage to the leaf at this stage will reduce quality of tea.
STORAGE OF GREEN LEAF
All harvested green leaf is spread in withering troughs in order to reduce moisture content by about 10% over a period of time.
TEA MANUFACTURE AND QUALITY CONTROL
Tea manufacture is a continuous process and once withered leaf goes into process it has to continue until dried into black tea at 3% moisture. During manufacture, tea samples are made regularly for checking quality and this forms a very important part of the process.
SORTING AND PACKING
Made black teas are graded according to sizes, stored in their respective bins, and packed when sufficient quantity is available.
TEA TASTING AND MARKETS FOR EACH TYPE OF TEA
The session ends with a tea tasting session. Guests are encouraged to participate and questions are taken from them for thorough explanations. We endeavor to give our guests the best tea tourism experience and engage in meaningful conversations on tea, its history and culture over a freshly brewed cup of tea.
