Making a magnanimous arrival in private aircraft, a 14-seater-Dassault Falcon 7X, Mr. Omar Koc’s family arrived at Tezpur from Turkey to visit the Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark in residence at Wild Mahseer. The group that stayed at Wild Mahseer for 3 days in November to experience the bio-cultural heritage of the Eastern Himalayas and lived the British tea planter’s life.
The group explored the forests of the Eastern Himalayas through nature walks – “conversation with nature” at the Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark and jeep safari at the world heritage site of the Kaziranga National Park. Practicing “Shirin-Yoku”- jungle bating, they allowed themselves to connect to the earthiness of the forests and spot its exotic wildlife.
An evening of cultural fashion show was organized for the group by WUYA and Naturenomics™ Bazaar to promote the handlooms and silk legacy of the region. Community women modeled at the show in traditional outfits to showcase the rich legacy and culture through ethnic clothes and jewelry. The heritage Bungalow with a 108-year-old history was the perfect setting for the fashion show to present the cultural grandeur and beauty of the Eastern Himalayas.
A Mishing village tour to meet the local community and taste the ethnic food, visit their bamboo homes and understand their eco-friendly way of living and harmonious relationship with nature was also organized for the group. Followed by a bonfire night of song and dance under the canopy of towering trees and starlit sky outside First Flush, the dining pavilion at Wild Mahseer.
The group left for home with memories of romanticizing with the tea culture of Assam, its spectacular wildlife and the warmth and affection of its local communities.
